Bell, Trott suffer injuries

LONDON, June 26: Jonathan Trott joined Warwickshire team-mate Ian Bell on England's list of injury concerns ahead of the upcoming Twenty20 and One-day Internationals against the West Indies.

South Africa-born batsman Trott, yet to make his England debut, was hit on the left hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday and was due to undergo an X-ray later in the day with the results to be announced on Wednesday, according to an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) statement.

The ECB had announced earlier on Tuesday that Bell had sustained a groin injury during fielding practice on Monday.

“Ian Bell underwent an ultrasound scan today (Tuesday) and has a minor grade one tear to his left groin following fielding practice on Monday. He'll continue to be assessed,” an ECB spokesman said.

England play the first of two back-to-back Twenty20 internationals against the West Indies at The Oval on Thursday.

The teams then play three full One-day Internationals at Lord's on July 1, Edgbaston on July 4 and Trent Bridge on July 7.—AFP
