KARACHI: ‘Pakhtuns believe in peace’

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 26: Pakhtuns have once again reposed their confidence in the leadership of the Awami National Party (ANP) and proved that they are a peace-loving people.

This was stated by ANP provincial chief Shahi Syed, while talking to the party workers and delegations here on Tuesday.

Despite the loss of 24 lives on May 12, the Pakhtuns remained peaceful as they believed in the philosophy of non-violence, he said.

He said that his party had taken out several processions from various areas dominated by the Urdu-speaking community on June 22, which were converged at Landhi where they were addressed by ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and the entire activity remained peaceful, he added.

He, however, deplored that such a significant event failed to get coverage in the local media. Despite this, we not only believed in freedom of the press but would also protect it, he added.
