QUETTA, June 25: Power supply to a vast area in the Bolan district was cut after two bombs, planted under two pylons of the main transmission line near Mach, exploded on Sunday night.

According to official sources, the bombs knocked out power supply to Bolan district and some other areas.

The Quetta Electric Supply Company sources in Sibi told Dawn by telephone that engineers and other staff had started replacing the destroyed pylons. “We are trying to restore power supply to affected areas through an alternative arrangement,” they said, adding that replacement of pylons would take about a week.

A case has been registered against unknown men. The district government of Bolan has recruited 100 men belonging to different tribes for the protection of electric towers and other government installations.
