Matloob grabs league title

LAHORE, June 25: Matloob Ahmed with a two-day aggregate of 137 won the Gymkhana Golf League at the Lahore Gymkhana Course on Monday. Matloob, who carded 64 on first day posted an expensive card 73 on the final day, but found himself as winner as the runner-up Yasaya Habib fell one stroke behind the leader. Yasahya had the break of 71,67.

Shafiq Masih came third with scores of 73,66=139.

Side-by-side there were events for the amateurs too, and for them the tournament was over 18 holes. Imran Ahmed playing superb golf won the amateur gross with a round of two under par gross 70, in the process outclassing other competitors like Salman Jehangir, Amir Mahmood and Shakeel Ahmed. Undoubtedly their efforts were equally admirable but Imran Ahmed proved just a little better.

At the conclusion of the tournament Salman Siddique Chief Secretary, Govt. of Punjab gave away the prizes to the winners.
