ISLAMABAD, June 25: Pakistan and the EU on Monday agreed to work towards enhancing “meaningful cooperation” in the field of counter-terrorism. The decision was taken at a meeting between the visiting EU Troika counter-terrorism delegation and an inter-ministerial Pakistani delegation held at the Foreign Office here.
The Pakistan side emphasised that Pakistan considered the EU an important partner in this field.
The head of the EU Troika’s counter-terrorism delegation Ambassador Matthias Sonn appreciated Pakistan’s contribution in the global campaign against terrorism.
“The meeting was held further to the Pak-EU Ministerial Troika meeting of 8 February 2007, which decided that dialogue in a number of areas, including counter-terrorism, would be institutionalised,” said a brief joint press statement issued after the meeting.—Q.A.
