KARACHI: JSQM strike observed

KARACHI, June 25: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in the old villages and localities of the city on Monday against the allocation of funds for the construction of Kalabagh Dam and the alleged disappearances of nationalist activists.

The strike was observed on the call of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) to register its protest against the disappearance of the party's Secretary-General Dr Safdar Sarki.

Commercial activities in these areas remained suspended. A section of University Road between Mosmiat Chowrangi and Safoora Goth was blocked.

The areas where the strike was observed include Kala Board, University Road, Sachchal Goth, Jauhar Complex, Safoora Goth, Bhittaiabad, Bakhtawar Goth, Pehalwan Goth, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Race Course area, Abduallah Shah Ghazi Goth, Shahnawaz Shar Goth, Malir, Khokhrapar, Gulshan-i-Hadeed and parts of Lyari.
