Runaway bride back in AJK

SRINAGAR, June 22: An 18-year-old girl who fled to occupied Kashmir across the Line of Control to escape her husband-to-be has been sent home, police said here on Friday.

Anida Khan made it safely over the LoC before she was arrested.

“She was handed over by police and civil officials to their Pakistani counterparts during a border meeting on Thursday,” a police official said.

“She was not a militant, nor an anti-national element,” the officer said. Ms Khan had told police that she had fled because she was being forced to marry against her wishes.—AFP
