LAHORE, June 22: The National Cricket Academy instead of making a policy to guide the regional head coaches about the training programme in the forthcoming regional academies had asked them to present their own training programme during a two-day workshop which is being held on June 30 and July 1.
A letter issued by General Manager Academies instructed all the coaches saying:"You are requested to prepare weekly training/activity plan of 12 weeks according to the following guidelines:
MORNING SESSION: fielding and fitness session; mid session: academics (details to be provided by NCA afternoon session: Technical and tactical session, nets etc.”
Some coaches, rang up Dawn and asked if the regional head coaches had to make the programme, then what were the duties of the NCA officials, who were getting lakhs of rupees as monthly salaries.
They said in the past the NCA had been sending a comprehensive plan for all to give similarity to the training programme all over the country, but now a two-day workshop would be a waste of time and money.
“All the head coaches will give one hour presentation on their training programme and share their ideas for improvement. Please bring the soft copy of training programme/presentation (CD or flash drive).
You will be provided accommodation and meals at the NCA and your traveling expenses will be reimbursed by the PCB.
You are requested to check-in on the evening of 29th June, 2007”, the letter further states.
The PCB has already appointed head coaches in all 11 regions with some wrong doings as it had appointed Navid Anjum as coach of Lahore region, despite the fact he had passed Level-I course.
