Rehman trails after false starts

By Our Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, June 22: Two false starts followed by disqualification in the third race on Friday, pushed Optimist sailor Abdur Rehman to 13th slot in Al Bareh international regatta in Bahrain on the penultimate day.

Rehman, who was lying seventh overnight after six races, suffered heavily as he had two false starts in the last race of the day and was disqualified to slip further eight positions below.

Meanwhile, no surprises are in store as last two races are to be sailed on Saturday.

In Laser Standard, Mohammad Ashfaque maintained his fifth place without any significance change.

Sami Koheji of Bahrain was ensured gold in the same class. He is followed by Taher Salman of Algeria and Abdulla Janahi of Bahrain.

In Laser Radial, Mohammad Ashraf of Navy is maintaining his 10th place.
