KARACHI, June 21: Meezan Bank thumped NIB Bank by eight wickets in a match of the first Meezan Inter-bank cricket tournament at the Pakistan Steel ground the other day.
Kashif Aziz (4-12), Mohammad Ismail (3-11), and Shakeel Zia (2-13) produced deadly spells to decimate NIB Bank for just 61 runs in 15.4 overs. Kashif then scored 37 not out to take the man-of-the-match award as Meezan Bank made light of their target racing to victory with more than 15 overs to spare.
Meanwhile, in another match played at the UBL Sports Complex, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) beat KASB Bank by 24 runs. Due to a brilliant unbeaten century by Zohaib Ali (124) the SBP made 192-5 off the allotted 25 overs. Azeem Khan and Sarosh Ibrahim claimed two wickets each.
KASB Bank replied with 168-9 with Sameer Khan (33), Zubair Ali (30), and Baleeghuddin (24) being the chief scorers. Naeem Khan bagged 4-25 and Adnan Javed 2-17. Zohaib was declared man of the match.
The third match ended in a walkover for Saudi Pak Commercial Bank as their opponents Bank of Tokyo did not turn up for the match.
