LAHORE, June 21: Different events in boys and girls category were decided on the opening day of the Punjab Inter-board games which commenced on Thursday. In boys’ hockey, Gujranwala beat Rawalpindi Board 5-4. Asghar Bilal and Aamir Sajjad scored two each while Adnan Khan also slammed one for the winners.
For the losers, Shoaib, Atiq-ur-Rehman, Waleed Abbas and Mohammad Rizwan struck a goal each.
Faisalabad defeated Bahawalpur 2-0 with Mohammad Shahbaz scoring both goals.
Lahore trounced Sargodha 9-1. Shafaat Ali (3), Qayyum, Asif, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Javed, Rana Sohail, and Akbar Ali earned one goal each. Asif reduced the margin for the losers.
In girls’ hockey four matches were held.
Faisalabad beat Dera Ghazi Khan 3-2 on penalty-strokes after remaining goalless during the regulation time.Nazia Rehmat (2) and Shumaila (1) struck for the winners. Rehana Amin and Sobia scored one each for the losers.
Multan outplayed Gujranwala 4-0.
Raheela scored three while Saadia one goal.
In other matches, Lahore got walk over against Sargodha while Bahawalpur were also given walkover against Rawalpindi.
Football:
In boys’ category, Multan defeated Sargodha 4-2 with Mohammad Asif (2), Ali Raza and Mohammad Kashif scoring one each for the winners. Asif Balal and Asif Raza reduced the margin for the losers.
Rawalpindi thrashed Dera Ghazi Khan 6-1 as Awais scored two while Asif, Nafees, Qamar Hussain and Yasir banged home one goal, each. Abdul Malik scored the consolation goal for the losers.
Gujranwala carved out 3-2 win against Bahawalpur.Mohammad Ahsan, Mohammad Mohsin and Atiq-ur-Rehman scored one each for the winners while Mujahid and Irfan struck for the losers. Faisalabad defeated Lahore 3-2 as Raheel Tahir, Mohammad Ajmal and Mohsin Ali found the net once. Ashfaq and Irfan hit goal for the losers.
Volleyball:
Girls: Lahore beat Rawalpindi 25-18, 25-15 while Bahawalpur outclassed Dera Ghazi Khan 25-10, 25-7. Sargodha outplayed Faisalabad 25-15, 25-22 while Gujranwala completed 25-4,25-8 rout over Multan.
Boys: Multan defeated Sargodha 25-23, 25-18 while Gujranwala trounced D G Khan 25-15, 25-13. Lahore came out winners against Bahawalpur 25-18, 17-25, 15-11. Similarly, Faisalabad fought hard to beat Rawalpindi 29-27, 25-10, 15-11.
Table tennis:
Girls: Lahore defeated Rawalpindi while Faisalabad beat D.G Khan and Sargodha beat Bahawalpur all by identical 3-0 margins. Multan defeated Gujranwala 3-1.
Boys: Bahawalpur and Lahore beat Rawalpindi and Multan by identical 3-0 margins. Sargodha beat D.G Khan 3-1 while Gujranwala got walk over against Faisalabad.
Girls: Gujranwala beat D G Khan 24-4 while Faisalabad got walk over against Sargodha.
Badminton: The girls badminton championship started at the New Khan Hall on Thursday.
D.G. Khan beat Rawalpindi 2-0 in the first match.
In the first singles Uzma beat Naeema Shahzadi 21-15, 21-10 while in the doubles Uzma and Sobia beat Naeema and Iram 21-13, 21-8.
In the second match, Faisalabad won over Sargodha 2-0.
Maryam Shafiq beat Sumaira Hayat 21-10, 21-5 in the singles.
In second double match Maryam and Ghazala beat Sumaira and Shumaila by 21-9,21-12.
Gujranwala beat Bahawalpur 2-0. Sadia beat Raheela 21-8, 21-5, while in doubles Sadia and Misbah beat Shabana and Raheela 21-16, 21-12.
Fourth match was won by Lahore board beating Multan 2-1.
Farah (Lahore) triumphed over Naima 21-13, 21-14, while in the doubles Naima and Saba (Multan) beat Farah and Misbah 21-16,21-16, while third and final single match won by Misbah of Lahore beating Saba 21-11, 21-8.
