KARACHI, June 21: Junior international Syed Zuhair Raza on Thursday sneaked into the men’s singles final to set a date with top seed Vinod Das in the second STA development series tennis tournament at PN Karsaz courts.

Zuhair inflicted a 6-4 6-2 defeat on none other then his elder brother and second seed Abbas in the second pre-final.

Earlier, Vinod made short work of Farhan of Pakistan Navy 6-0, 6-3 to move a step closer to the title.

Prior to men’s singles final which is slated at 4.00pm on Friday, Zuhair faces another challenge when he meets Omer Shahid for the juniors U-17 title at 11.00am.

Similarly, Omer had also another engagement in the morning as he has qualified to meet Abdul Rehman for the boys U-15 singles crown. The question that arises is how will Omer do justice to two finals under scorching heat with a little break?

Top seed Nameer Shamsi kept his winning run intact when he brushed aside Imran Mooraj 6-3, 6-1 to storm in boys U-13 final where he takes Shahbaz Khan who accounted for Yayha Essa 6-4 4-4 (retd).

In a one-sided affair, Seher Khawaja had a smooth 6-0, 6-0 sailing over Aliya Hai in the second semi-final to face Eman Malik for the ladies singles crown.

Talha Zubair and Imran Mooraj will be up against each other in the boys U-11 singles final.
