Tuition fee concession for quake-hit students

Bureau Report

ABBOTTABAD, June 21: The provincial government has asked all students of engineering, medical and other technical colleges to apply before June 30 for the special “Tuition Fee Grant 2008” with respective district coordination officers’ (DCO’s) offices.

The NWFP relief commissioner will provide special tuition fee grant to deserving students.

A handout issued here on Thursday by the DCO’s office said that all those students whose fathers had died in the 2005 earthquake or their houses damaged in the calamity were eligible for the grant.

The handout further said that students, whose parents’ monthly income was less than Rs15000, could also apply for the grant. Students studying on the Self-Finance Basis in any institute were not eligible for the facility, the handout said.

All those students who had been studying in a private college or a school on the day of earthquake could also apply for a 50 per cent grant for hostel and tuition fee, the handout said.
