GUJAR KHAN, June 21: An under-trial prisoner reportedly escaped while being taken to a local court here on Thursday. The police guards including an ASI have been arrested and a case of negligence has been registered against them.

According to sources, accused dacoit Hakim Khan, a resident of Talagang, was being taken to a local court in a prisoners-van from the Adiala Jail Rawalpindi when he escaped by loosening his handcuffs.

“The guards, accompanying the flock of under-trial prisoners, were not aware of the escape and when other prisoners informed them it was too late,” the sources claimed.

The incident was brought into notice of the police high-ups and DSP Raja Taifur Akhtar immediately ordered the arrest of the police guards, who have been identified as ASI Jawaid Iqbal, and constables Waqas and Nasir.

A case has been registered against the accused policemen with the Gujar Khan police station.
