HYDERABAD, June 21: Lawyers, to express solidarity with the Chief Justice of Pakistan boycotted courts across Sindh on Thursday on the call of Pakistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association.
They took out procession in Hyderabad from the sessions court building which marched on Fatima Jinnah Road, Miran Mohammad Shah Road and terminated outside the press club. They were led by the leaders of high court and district bar associations Allah Bachayo Soomro, Abdul Khaliq Leghari, Fazal Qadir Memon, Noorul Haq Qureshi, Sultan Shaikh and others.
Lawyers were joined by the PML, the PPP, the PTI, the MMA activists and the NLF chief, Rana Mehmood Ali Khan and raised slogans in support of the CJP, Judiciary and the Constitution of 1973. Later, many lawyers observed token hunger strike outside the court building and held a general body meeting of the High Court and District Bar Association.
KHAIRPUR: Lawyers of Khairpur boycotted court proceedings and gathered in the court premises and raised slogans in favour of the CJP.
They demanded withdrawal of presidential reference against the CJP. Representatives, Liaquat Shar and others vowed to continue their struggle till the withdrawal of reference.
Lawyers also boycotted courts in Gambat, Thari Mirwah and Kingri talukas.
NAWABSHAH: Members of the DBA boycotted court proceedings and vowed to continue their struggle for supremacy of judiciary and reinstatement of the Chief Justice.
JACOBABAD: Lawyers of Jacobabad boycotted court proceedings and took out a rally. Protesters carried banners and placards and raised slogans against the government. After marching through various roads, the rally terminated at the press club.
MIRPURKHAS: Lawyers boycotted court proceedings in Mirpurkhas to protest against the suspension of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Choudhry.
