PESHAWAR, June 21: Peshawar High Court’s Chief Justice Tariq Pervez Khan has decided to curtail summer vacations of the court this year and work in July in the interest of the people, says a press release issued here on Thursday.

The high court observes summer vacations in July and August each year.

The decision had been taken to alleviate the suffering of litigants who otherwise faced inconvenience because of the delay in the timely disposal of cases because of vacations, the press release said.

It said the decision had been taken because of a huge backlog of cases, both civil and criminal, which had been pending disposal before the Peshawar High Court.

The press release said that the chief justice, being mindful of the situation and sensitive to problems of the people resulting from the delay in the timely disposal of their cases, had taken this decision to alleviate the suffering of litigants.
