Rain leaves 12 dead

TOBA TEK SINGH, June 19: Twelve people died and over 50 suffered injuries in rain-related incidents in two districts of Punjab on Tuesday.

The worst affected area was the Kamalia town of district Toba Tek Singh in spells of light and heavy rains over the past four days.

According to reports, hundreds of houses were submerged in urban and rural areas of Kamalia, Gojra, Pirmahal and Toba by the rain described as the heaviest in the region over the last 10 years.

Among the dead were five women, two minor girls and three men.

VEHARI: Two labourers were killed when a rain-soaked wall fell on them at a cotton factory near the Machiwal area here on Tuesday evening.

The rain also affected districts of Jhang and Sahiwal.
