Clarification

PESHAWAR, June 19: A spokesman for the ISPR has issued a clarification to a news item which appeared in Dawn under the headline “Politicians get plots meant for military personnel”.

The spokesman said the next of kin of the Shuhada belonging to the NWFP were allotted land in Dera Ismail Khan for their convenience. “No land meant for Shuhada has been allotted to anyone else,” he added.

“In certain cases people who are in occupation of the land are also granted ownership, ensuring that they are not evicted and left without a livelihood. This is also in accordance with rules.”
