RAWALPINDI, June 19: The additional district and sessions judge (ASJ), Muhammad Iqbal Malik, has directed the RA Bazaar SHO to register an FIR, against a lady doctor who had allegedly stolen some medical equipment from a private clinic two months ago but no report was lodged.
Muhammad Naveed Chaudhry invoked the court to get the FIR registered against Dr Sadia Aftab who was accused of stealing an ultra sound machine he had rented out to Dr Arbab Shah Jan, along with an x-ray machine.
According to the petitioner, Dr Jan paid the rent regularly for some time but later went way to Dubai after extorting a lot of money from the people of the area, who also ransacked his clinic, on the Dhamial Road, which was sealed by the owner of the building.
He said he learnt from the employees of the owner of the building that Dr Aftab, who worked in the clinic as the managing director, had taken away the ultra sound machine but he was able to recover other machines from the clinic. When the petitioner approached Dr Aftab to repossess his machine, she threatened him with dire consequences if he insisted on it.
The petitioner reported the matter to the RA Bazaar police station on April 27 but the SHO present at the time did not register the FIR and took no legal action against the accused, apparently due to the influence she wielded because of her uncle, who posed himself as an army major.—A Reporter
