KARACHI, June 19: The Sindh chapter of the Awami National Party has planned to stage a rally in Landhi on June 22 to pay homage to those who were killed on May 12 and to renew its pledge to safeguard the rights of the Pakhtuns.
It was decided at a party workers’ meeting held here with the ANP provincial chief, Shahi Syed, in the chair. The ANP leaders condemned attempts being made by vested interests to tarnish the party’s image after the May 12 incident.
They said that the ANP would in no way surrender the rights of the Pakhtun community and continue its struggle to achieve their economic rights.
The ANP leaders urged the party workers to maintain discipline in their ranks and foil all attempts being made to damage the party.
They also expressed concern over the destruction of transport vehicles in the city during protests against load-shedding, thus causing economic damages to the Pakhtuns.
