PESHAWAR: Pesco okays Rs168m for system improvement

PESHAWAR, June 19: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has approved an expenditure of Rs168.398 million for improvement in its distribution system and for removing the problems arising from overload in certain parts of the province.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the Pesco’s board of directors which was held here on Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by the company’s chairman Jamshed Savul. Pesco Chief Executive Brig Sakhi Marjan and members of the board attended the meeting.

The Pesco’s chief executive apprised the board of the plans to upgrade the company’s distribution system in different phases to overcome the problem of overloading.

He said 23 new power transformers were being imported for installation at various overloaded grid stations throughout the province.

The board directed the officials concerned to accelerate the pace of work on development schemes and complete all the work by the end of the current fiscal year.

The funds would be used for installation of additional power transformers, construction of a new transmission line and bifurcation of 115KV feeders besides construction of a new feeder.

The meeting was told that five new grid stations would be constructed to overcome the overloading problem, while heavy power transformers would be installed at 19 overloaded grid stations.
