LAHORE, June 18: Senator Enver Baig, a member of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Sports has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to inform the committee whether its Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf has increased his overseas daily allowance or any other through an executive order.
In a letter written to the Standing Committee’s chief Chaudhary Zafar Iqbal, Enver has asked to add five more inquiries to the already submitted requisition which carries nine inquiries about the PCB affairs.
On the requisition Zafar had already summoned a meeting on June 26 in Islamabad, asking the PCB chairman to give replies of different questions the senators have raised.
“Is it a fact that overseas daily allowance for the (PCB) chairman ad hoc committee was $500, which has now been presumably abolished and unlimited amount as daily allowance has been authorised by an executive order? If true, please state the reasons behind this order,” Enver wrote in the letter.
The letter, a copy of which was obtained by Dawn, also asked the PCB chairman “to please submit the statement of Daily Allowance paid to the chairman ad hoc committee during his trips abroad from the date he has assumed the charge as ad hoc committee chairman. Please specify dates and allowances paid.”
It continued, “Please also submit the statement of the foreign travels done by ad hoc committee chairman, since he assumed the charge. Under the following format: date of visit/country visited/reason of visit/class travelled.”
The senator also asked for the C.V of the junior selection committee with the following information:
“Criteria for appointing the junior selection committee; salary and other perks, if any and period of the junior selection committee.”
Enver also sought the submission of a list of all former Test and first-class cricketers listed with the PCB with their addresses and telephone numbers.
Dr Nasim is unlikely to appear before the Senate body since he has to attend the ICC meeting in London on June 26.
