Wage award

Published June 19, 2007

LAHORE, June 18: A number of Punjab Assembly members urged the government to take steps to constitute the Eighth Wage Board for newspaper employees besides ensuring the implementation of the seventh award. Sheikh Allaudin, a treasury member, raised the demand during a general discussion on budget. Waris Kallo, Arshad Baggu, Abdur Razaaq Niazi and other members from both sides of the house supported the demand.

They said that since any revision in salaries of newspaper employees was dependent on the wage board award, efforts should be made to implement it.—APP
