JSM wants halt to influx into Sindh

By Our Correspondent

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 18: The Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Jonejo) has called for stopping influx of people into Sindh and repatriate those who came after 1954. It also asked to deny such people right of vote and citizenship.

The demands were made in a resolution adopted during the 35th meeting of the National Congress of Jeay Sindh Mahaz (J) held on Monday, presided by party’s general secretary Hashim Khoso.

It demanded the government to disclose whereabouts of people arrested by the agencies from Sindh and Balochistan.

Hashim Khoso said the JSM was formed by G.M. Syed after the fall of Dhaka in June 1972 with G.M. Syed being elected as first president and Rais Ghulam Mustafa Bhurgari as secretary general with four goals to achieve freedom, democracy, socialism, and secularism.

Hashim Khoso said he and other workers will work for the freedom of Sindh. He said the world had become a global village hence they ought to make friends all around.

He supported lawyers' struggle for freedom of judiciary. He condemned the MQM and the ANP Shahi Syed's move of starting crisis on linguistic basis in Karachi. He said, Karachi was the city of Sindhis and they were its owners.

The JSM Sindh liaison secretary Ahmed Khan Chandio, labour party leader Younus Rahu, Sindh Sagar party Yousuf Mangi, Sindh National Front's Masroor Chandio and vice president DBA Naushahro Feroze Abdul Salam Lohrani and others participated on special invitation.

ENCROACHMENT: Activists of different political parties observed token hunger strike opposite the press club on Monday demanding removal of encroachment from the high school ground.

Protesters belonging to the PPP, the JSM, the Sindh Sagar Party, the STP and other parties demonstrated and staged hunger strike for three hours.

Protesters led by Naib Nazim UC Naushahro Feroze, Dr Abdul Qadeer, Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Mazhar Khaskheli, Master Faqeer Mohammad Memon complained that the district administration instead of removing encroachment from the114-year old school playground was supporting it.

They alleged that the Lund tribe encroachers on the instigation of district officials had arranged rally in favour of encroachment by calling their tribesmen from different districts of Sindh on Sunday. They explained their struggle was for removal of encroachment from the educational institution and not against any tribe.

They asked the DCO Naushahro Feroze to take serious notice of the matter and get it removed without delay.
