Dawa calls for judicial probe

Published June 18, 2007

MUZAFFARABAD, June 17: The Jamaat-ud-Dawa on Sunday said that some elements were trying to give a communal colour to the violence during which a youth was killed and regretted the torching of its health facility and other infrastructure and urged the authorities concerned to hold a thorough judicial probe.

Speaking at a press conference here, the group’s AJK chapter Ameer Abdul Aziz Alvi, Public Relations In-charge Nazir Ahmed and other central and regional office-bearers strongly condemned the murder of the local youth and offered their full cooperation to the authorities.

Mr Ahmed said the clash between the Jamaat and local residents had started due to a misunderstanding.

He said the hospital, built and equipped against nearly Rs50 million, had been providing free healthcare services to over 300 patients on a daily basis and by torching it the people had been deprived of this facility.
