VIENNA, June 17: Police have found 25 illegal immigrants from India and Pakistan packed into the back of a truck near the western Austrian town of Innsbruck, security officials said on Sunday.

The traffickers fled after the Czech truck was found in a parking lot with 16 Indians and nine Pakistanis, aged between 16 and 31, crammed so tightly into the back they were forced to stand.

Initial police reports suggested the immigrants had come from the Czech Republic and were hoping to cross Austria en route to Italy.—AFP
