PPP leaders pay homage to Qamar

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, June 17: Chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party Benazir Bhutto has said the best way to pay homage to their slain party worker Syed Qamar Abbas is to adhere to his political ideals.

In a message on the Chehlum of Mr Abbas on Sunday, she said the young and energetic PPP scholar would be remembered for his commitment to the political cause and love for the poor. She said Mr Abbas, who hailed from an educated and scholarly family, had worked for the well-being of the downtrodden and was a leader of the oppressed. She asked PPP workers and leaders to learn from the commitment and dedication of Mr Abbas who had remained steadfast in the face of hardships during dictatorial regimes.

PPP MNA Chaudhary Manzoor said Mr Abbas was an honest and committed party worker. “He lived his entire life like an upright politician and left behind hundreds of comrades to follow into his steps,” he said. He urged the PPP workers to give a political defeat to the killers of Mr Abbas in the next general elections.

MNA Naheed Khan said Mr Abbas’s sacrifice would infuse new energy into the PPP. She said he was a political asset and a harbinger of hard work and optimism in the PPP, whose death had caused a vacuum in the party.

Tahir Abbas, the younger brother of Qamar Abbas said he would continue on the path of his brother.
