BADIN, June 17: Tail-end growers of Ganj Behar and Noor Wah minor canals and the villagers of the coastal area staged a demonstration in Shaikhani Gari on Sunday to protest against the failure of irrigation officials of Kazia sub-division to bring an end to an acute month-long water shortage in the channels.

Talking to journalists, the protesters expressed resentment over indifferent attitude of the irrigation and district authorities to their grievances and lamented that political figures of the area, including the legislators, promised to solve their problems but did nothing about it.

The growers said that influential landlords had tampered with modules of watercourses. — BoC
