HYDERABAD: Three of a family die in accident

HYDERABAD, June 17: Three members of a family were killed and two others suffered injuries in an accident near Hatri turning point on a section of National Highway on Saturday.

A car was coming to Barrage Colony Hyderabad from Moro when its tyre burst. It overturned and collided with an up-country-bound coach on the parallel road.

According to Edhi volunteer Mairajuddin, two people in the car, Abdul Jabbar and Anees- ur-Rehman, died on the spot.

The injured including Mujeeb ur Rehman, Tahir and Haneef, were shifted to Civil Hospital where Mujeeb died on Sunday morning.

They were coming here to inquire after the health of their relative in Barrage colony.

The bodies were given funeral bath by the Edhi volunteers and handed over to their heirs.

The coach was impounded by Hatri police. No case was lodged so far.

Edhi volunteers said that five passengers of the coach also received slight injuries.

SHO injured: SHO of Fort police station, Ahmed Qureshi, received bullet injuries during cross fire early Sunday morning in the Pucca Qilla area.

Neither the Fort nor the City police lodged a case so far as they were wrangling over jurisdiction.

The SHO is admitted to the Civil Hospital as he received injuries on his cheek during an exchange of fire between two groups of youth following an altercation in Pucca Qilla ground.

Reports said that one group of youths in an alleged drunken condition was sitting in Pucca Qilla ground which was renovated recently.

Another group objected to it as some women were there to enjoy the environment due to severe heat in the city.

However, it led to an exchange of hot words which soon turned into a fist fighting. Use of sticks was also reported, resulting in injuries to one Kashif, who suffered several stitches in his head. Both the groups of youths were residents of Pucca Qilla in different localities.

The matter was reported to zonal office of MQM but it remained unresolved. By that time supporters of both the groups exchanged fire in their areas outside their homes as well.

The situation became serious when they traded fire near nine yards grave in Pucca Qilla area and SHO Fort police station received bullet injuries. He had tried to settle the issue using his good offices. He was taken to Civil Hospital. No case was lodged so far.
