Lal Masjid fatwa against magazine

By Syed Irfan Raza

ISLAMABAD, June 16: After challenging the writ of the government many times in the recent past, Lal Masjid clerics on Friday issued a Fatwa (decree) against owners and publishers of a local magazine, saying they deserve capital punishment under blasphemy laws.

The in-charge of the mosque, Maulana Abdul Aziz, in his Friday sermon said the owners and publishers of a local magazine had committed blasphemy of the first prophet of Allah Almighty — “Hazrat Adam and Amma Hawwa” — by publishing their half naked images in the latest issue of their monthly magazine, Octane.

He demanded that owners and publishers of the magazine should be arrested and they should be punished in public.
