Three policemen arrested

By Our Correspondent

VEHARI, Jun 16: Three officials of the Gaggo Police Station were arrested and sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand on Saturday for their alleged involvement in a hand grenade attack on the outhouse of a landowner.

Vehari District Police Officer Malik Tasadaq Hayat ordered the arrest of Sub-Inspector Abdul Hameed, ASI Jawed Iqbal and Muharer Abdul Ghafar after investigating the June 6 grenade attack on Allah Yar Khichi’s house.

Khichi’s nephew Pervez alias Mehdi was killed in the attack, while Khichi himself, his son Tahir and family members Arshad and Hamid Raza were injured.

According to the inquiry report, the accused policemen registered a fake case of illegal weapons against main culprit of the attack, Saeed Khichi, and his accomplices Fiaz Ahmad and Amjad Waqas.

Police record showed that Saeed and his accomplices were in the custody of the Gaggo police at the time of the attack, but in fact they were out and carried the attack on Khichi’s house.

Saeed and his accomplices were however still at large.
