‘Rapists’ still at large

SIALKOT, June 16: Police has failed to arrest the two men who allegedly raped a mentally-retarded girl at gunpoint in the suburbs of Daska on June 14, Thursday. According to an FIR lodged with Daska city police, two vagabonds raped the daughter of a labourer, Muhammad Irshad, at gunpoint when she went to fields to answer the call of nature.

The family members of the victim told journalists on Saturday that the accused were very influential and were threatening them with dire consequences for reporting the matter to police.

They appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi and IG Ahmad Naseem to ensure early arrest of the accused, besides providing justice to the victim.

SUSPENDED: District police officer has suspended from service Sambrial police SHO Tahir Majid for failing to check heinous crime in the area.
