More time sought for park work

CHITRAL, June 16: The management of the Chitral Gol National Park has sought a two-year extension of a project under which the infrastructure of the park is being developed. The NWFP government with the financial assistance of World Bank has been developing the infrastructure of the wildlife park under the Protected Areas Management Project (PAMP). Total cost of the project, covering an area of 7,750 hectares, is estimated to be Rs182.88 million.

Project manager Mohammad Ali said the provincial government had provided Rs45 million from the endowment fund for the project.

Briefing NWFP environment secretary Noorul Haq, he said the project initiated in 2002 still needed at least two more years to be completed.
