By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, June 16: The government on Saturday restricted import of used cars to three years for overseas Pakistani which will be effective from July 1, 2007. The commerce ministry issued a notification amending the imports and exports (Control) Act, 1950 for banning the import of five year old cars under gift, personal baggage and transfer of residence scheme.

The overseas Pakistani will be the major victims of the government decision, which will give more protection to local manufacturers as the flow of imports will reduce to a great extent.
