17 killed as bus plunges into ravine

WANA, June 15: At least 17 people were killed and more than 40 injured on Friday when a passenger bus plunged into a ravine near the Afghan border, officials said.

The bus carrying about 60 people from Karachi met the accident near Jandola. The driver lost control while negotiating a sharp bend on the mountain road and the bus fell off a 100-foot-high cliff, a local official told AFP. He said 13 people, including four women and three children, died on the spot.
