Former cricketers wait for pension

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, June 15: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has failed to release the pension cheques to the former Test cricketers for the month of May.

Some affected players told Dawn that the PCB had to pay the pension for the said month on June 1, but so far there was no intimation in this regard.

The scheme was launched when President General Pervez Musharraf handed over the cheques to some ex-Test cricketers last February.

Though cheques, given by the president, could not be cashed as those were containing only one signature later, the Test cricketers raised protest to get their cheques in May.

Though the PCB has introduced corporate culture in the board, such complaints and that too of the past heroes give a bad name to the board, an affected former Test cricketer said.
