Police break rally

By Our Correspondent

JACOBABAD, June 15: The railway police broke a rally taken out by the activists of Sindh Taraqi Passand Party and Tanga Labour Union here on Friday.

They were protesting leasing out a land of the railway station tanga stand and railway girls school to a private party.

The rally, which began from the Quetta road park, was led by Ali Mohammad Lashari, Zulfiqar Solangi, Abdul Sattar Brohi, Aslam Shah and others.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards and raising slogans against railway authorities.

Marching on different roads of the city, the protesters reached near tanga stand and the police tried to stop them from going to tanga stand. The railway police lobbed teargas shells and baton charged the protesters when they defied the orders.

The leaders demanded that the railway primary school and tanga stand should be restored to their original position, and warned of a complete shutter down strike on Monday and a blockade of railway track in case their demand was not accepted.
