Wapda claim

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, June 15: The Water and Power Development Authority has claimed that only six machines (generating units) are under maintenance and not 25 as reported in a section of the press.

Commenting on a Dawn report “Shortage of power reaches 2900MW”, a Wapda spokesman said in a statement that owing to abnormally high temperatures the demand had increased by 20 per cent and, as a result, the gap in supply and demand has increased to 2000MW at peak time. “Presently all generating stations of Wapda and IPPs are running on maximum capacity,” he claimed.
