KARACHI: Transporters threaten to go on strike

By A Reporter

KARACHI, June 15: The Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) on Friday warned that if the assailants who opened fire on a bus and injured five persons in Lyari on Thursday were not arrested, a call for a strike in the city would be given by the organisation.

It was earlier reported that driver of a bus of route ‘7 C’ Mohammad Arshad and four passengers were injured in the firing that took place in Kalakot locality of Lyari. Police refused to register the case on the complaint of the driver.

KTI President Syed Irshad Hussain Shah Bukhari and General Secretary Syed Mehmood Afridi, said in a statement on Friday that two buses of the same route number had forcibly been taken away for transporting people to the Karachi Press Club. The armed attack on one of the buses was carried out while the vehicles were returning to their base.
