ABBOTTABAD, June 14: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf has said that there would be no compromise on discipline and physical fitness, making it clear that only fit and disciplined players would be selected in the final squad for the national duty.

While addressing a press conference at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium here on Thursday after visiting Pakistan team’s camp, the PCB chief said the physical fitness camp, named as ‘Team Spirit Camp’, has shown better results, hoping the camp would be a successful one.

Mentioning speedster Shoaib Akhtar’s eagerness to regain 100 per cent fitness for the next season, the PCB chairman expressed that if players like Shoaib proved their fitness it would be a good sign for Pakistan cricket.

About the team’s formation, he said the line-up would be selected on series-to-series basis while revealing that vice-captain will also be appointed in the same way.

Underlining the significance of leadership, Dr Nasim pointed out if Shoaib Malik succeeded in carrying out the responsibility put on his shoulders, he could be retained as captain in the long term, adding that there would be one captain who could manage Test and ODI cricket affairs evenly.

Dr Nasim said Abbottabad Region would be placed in the top five regions of Pakistan as 12 academies were working in the country, while saying that the PCB will provide more funds for upgrading the game’s infrastructure.

Meanwhile, on the legal notice served on Senator Enver Baig on Wednesday, Dr Nasim said he has knocked the doors of court of law and hoped to get justice.

About the Senate Standing Committee on Sports, the PCB boss said he respects the members of the committee, assuring he would present himself before the committee for any query.
