LAHORE, June 14: Jammat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmed says that US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher has visited Pakistan in connection with handing over Chaman Fort to Nato.

Addressing a convention of National Labour Federation at Gulshan-i-Ravi here on Thursday, he said Nato had been pressing for handing over the control of the fort to it but the government was reluctant to accept the demand.

He said the problems faced by the people and the working classes had compounded during the rule of Gen Musharraf. The troika of generals, feudal lords and bureaucracy was exploiting workers while poverty, hunger and fear had created uncertainty in the country.

He said the judiciary had been held hostage by the army and it could not administer justice due to the fear of the gun. —Reporter
