KARACHI: Midwifery training


KARACHI, June 14: Sindh Health Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed said that 2,000 midwives would be trained in the province under Mother, Newborn and Child Health Programme funded by Norway.

He said this in a meeting with a special envoy of the Norwegian prime minister, Ms Berit Oslen, and the United Nations representative, Dr Ibrahim, at his office on Thursday.

The trainee midwives would be given Rs3,500 monthly stipend during the 18-month training, he said. The minister thanked the government of Norway for the funds.—PPI
