Case against 35 for blocking rail tracks


BAHAWALPUR, June 13: Police on Wednesday registered a case against about 35 people under anti-terrorist act (ATA) for allegedly blocking the main up and down tracks at railway station here on June 9, Saturday, it is learnt.

The case has been registered on the complaint of an ASI of Saddar police station.

According to police sources, no one of the nominated accused has so far been arrested.

A mob comprising about one hundred people, including women, blocked railway tracks thus suspending train traffic for about three hours on Saturday to protest their `forcible ejectment’ from their kachi abadi houses by the Town Municipal Administration.

FOUND DEAD: A 14-year-old boy was found murdered in mysterious circumstances here on Wednesday.

Reports said the deceased, Attique, son of Muhammed Hanif, a rickshaw-driver, went missing two days ago. His parents lodged the complaint with the police.

On Wednesday, his body was found near Chak 12/BC in the city suburbs.

Baghdadul Jadid police shifted the body for post-mortem examination.

According to initial police investigations, the deceased had a quarrel with some of his friends.
