Farmer dies at 127

OKARA, June 12: The oldest agriculturist of Thatta Kalason village died here on Sunday after a short illness. He was over 127.

Mehr Muhammad Yousaf Kalason, who was buried here on Monday, is survived by four sons, a daughter, dozens of grandsons and granddaughters and great grandsons and great granddaughters. He started his career as a schoolteacher in Moza Peroze, but quit teaching after five years and returned to agriculture. He was elected union council member several times and also remained head of the panchayat (village jury) in the Ravi area. His farmhouse in Kalason village became the hub of political and social activities.

Kalason’s grandson Advocate Mehr Amir Ali Kalason, 50, said that his grandfather passed his entire life with simplicity and used horse as conveyance. His qul will be held today (Wednesday).
