Zaheer available for selection

NEW DELHI, June 11: Pace bowler Zaheer Khan will be available for selection for India's trip to Ireland and England after suffering an injury during Saturday's second Afro-Asia Cup tie in Chennai.

“The MRI did not show anything, he will be available for selection,” BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said on Monday.

Zaheer had been in some doubt after limping away while bowling for the Asia XI and failing to complete his over.

The 28-year-old made a strong comeback last year after being sidelined for many months due to poor form and injuries. His presence could be key following recent injuries to other bowlers.

Munaf Patel and Shanthakumaran Sreesanth have both returned to action after they broke down on last month's Bangladesh tour. The Indian selectors are expected to pick the teams on Tuesday.—Reuters
