QUETTA, June 11: Leaders of the Balochistan chapter of the People’s Party Parliamentarians have demanded that the military operation in the province be stopped, all political activists released and the army returned to the barracks.

Addressing at a public meeting at the Satellite Town here on Sunday, they said the government had failed to subdue the judiciary by filing a reference against the Chief Justice of Pakistan and to muzzle the media by promulgating anti-press laws.

Balochistan PPP president Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Khan Raisani, general secretary Bismillah Kakar, MPA Shafique Ahmed Khan, deputy secretary Saadullah Shah, district president Ali Madad Jatak and Hidayatullah Pirzada addressed the gathering.

Criticising the ‘unwise’ policies of the government, they said the eight-year army rule had failed to address the problems of lawlessness, unemployment, inflation and economic instability.
