Cyclone-hit people to get compensation: CM

QUETTA, June 11: The Coastal Highway was reopened for traffic on Sunday afternoon following an assurance given by the Balochistan chief minister that the people affected by cyclone in Sur Bandar coastal town would be compensated.

The affected people had blocked the highway on Saturday morning on the call of the Gwadar Action Committee. However, the blockade was lifted when a delegation of the action committee held talks with Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf, who visited Sur Bandar on Sunday.

Provincial Chief Secretary K.B. Rind and Gwadar District Nazim Abdul Ghafoor Kalmati were also present on the occasion.

The delegation of the action committee apprised the chief minister of their hardships and damage caused by the typhoon to boats and houses in Sur Bandar.

The chief minister assured the delegation that the government would establish a jetty at Sur Bandar and construct a colony for the fishermen, saying the government would take all possible steps to protect the interest of local people of Gwadar, particularly fishermen. —Correspondent
