Scott still in front

MEMPHIS (Tennessee), June 10: Australian Adam Scott survived a faltering front nine to stretch his lead to three shots in the St Jude Championship third round on Saturday.

One stroke clear when the thunderstorm-hit second round was completed earlier in the day, Scott fired a two-under-par 68 in sun-drenched conditions at the TPC Southwind.

That left him on nine-under 201, with playing partner Brian Gay (70) and twice champion David Toms (66) tied for second place.

American Woody Austin (67) was a further shot back in fourth at five under, one better than Britain's Brian Davis, who birdied three of the last four holes for a 68.

Leading third-round scores:

201 – Adam Scott (Australia) 67, 66, 68.

204 – David Toms (US) 70, 68, 66; Brian Gay (US) 68, 66, 70.

205 – Woody Austin (US) 72, 66, 67.

206 – Brian Davis (Britain) 70, 68, 68.

207 – Dean Wilson (US) 70, 71, 66; Will MacKenzie (US) 71, 69, 67; Joe Durant (US) 73, 66, 68; Brandt Snedeker (US) 70, 68, 69; Fredrik Jacobson (Sweden) 67, 70, 70.—Reuters
