KARACHI, June 9: Three-year-old chestnut colt Lava Man, who was beaten by outsider three-year-old bay colt Chosen One by four lengths last weekend, should make amends by sprinting to glory in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Lava Man had overcame a bad patch by posting half length victory over Janu Love Inshu on May 27 under rider Ghulam Shabbir II to register first win of the year. However, in the following run he was denied victory.
Drawn in a field of 13 runners in the five furlongs fourth race barring last minute withdrawals, he start as our day’s best and tipped to atone to the loss.
He should be chased by colt Shiracco and filly Queen Of Mirwa for the places.
Six-year-old chestnut Sharp Cat has the potential to pick up spoils in the feature event, the sixth and last race of the programme. She has been finishing on the board quite often with two wins under his belt.
His likely challengers are Ref Rufus and Jack In The Box.
Four-year-old dark bay colt Lucky Step Junior should start a clear favourite in the supporting event, the top division of class VII.
She should be chased by Princess Rozi and Foolish Pleasure for the places.
Nine-year-old mare Moment To Moment II is our fancy in the third race. She should have to overcome Hamza Joy and Powerful Gambler. Three-year-old colt Beyond Belief, if allowed to run on merit, should beat the lot.
Seven-year-old bay Tun Baba Tun is poised to pick up the opener while mare Meri Paidagiree should dominate the second race.
A card of six races has been drawn for the day. The first race starts at 2.00pm.
