Heatwave toll rises

LAHORE: At least four more people died because of the ongoing heatwave in different parts of the city on Saturday.

Liaqatabad police said Malik Ashraf of Muhammadi Mohalla was on his way to the bazaar on his motorcycle to purchase some domestic goods when he fell unconscious.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead citing heat stroke as the death cause.

Nolakha police said an unidentified 50-year-old man was found unconscious near area post office.

He was rushed to the Mayo Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The doctors on duty said the old man died of heat stroke.

Shahdara police said they found an unidentified 45-year-old man lying unconscious near Ravi Toll Plaza, and got him shifted to the Mayo Hospital by an Edhi ambulance. Doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead.

The deceased died of heat stroke, the police quoted doctors as having said.

Body of an unidentified 65-year-old man was found near the Diyal Singh College in Gawalmandi on Saturday.

Police said the old man could not bear the scorching heat.
